Speak more. Fear less.
Most people who study English can read it, write it, and pass a test in it — and then freeze the moment someone asks them a question out loud. They know the grammar. They have the vocabulary. What they do not have is the experience of using either one under the small, ordinary pressure of another person waiting for them to finish a sentence.
Zeno exists to close that gap. It is a free platform where you practise speaking English with real people and with an AI tutor, as often as you like, without booking a class, paying for a tutor, or explaining to anyone why your English is not better than it is.
Our mission
We believe speaking is a physical skill, not an academic one. You do not learn to swim by reading about water, and you do not learn to speak by collecting more grammar rules. You learn by doing the thing, badly, many times, until it stops feeling dangerous.
That leads to three commitments that shape everything we build. First, practice has to be free: a learner in a small town should get the same speaking time as a learner who can afford a private tutor, so Zeno's core practice is free and always will be. Second, explanations belong in your own language — being corrected in English you do not yet understand teaches you nothing, so our AI explains mistakes in the language you actually think in, while the practice itself stays in English. Third, short and regular beats long and rare: five minutes of real speaking today is worth more than a three-hour study session you keep postponing.
What you can do on Zeno
- Live voice Spaces — join a room on any topic and speak with learners from around the world, or open your own Space and set the subject. Rooms are small on purpose, so you get speaking time rather than an audience.
- AI English Tutor — available any time, with no waiting and no judgement. It corrects your grammar and explains why, in your language.
- Voice Mode — a spoken conversation with an AI partner that listens, replies naturally, and gives you a report on your mistakes afterwards. It is the safest possible place to say a sentence wrong for the first time.
- Study Room — vocabulary and daily practice organised by level, which you can do alone or together with other people inside a Space.
- The blog — free written guides on fluency, grammar, pronunciation, interviews and everyday conversation, written for speaking rather than for exams.
Who builds Zeno
Zeno is built and run by a small independent team — not a large company, not a school, and not a venture-funded startup with a sales department. That is a limitation and an advantage. The limitation is that we are a handful of people and we cannot answer every message within an hour. The advantage is that the people who write the code are the same people who read the reports, answer the support email, and sit in Spaces listening to how the product actually behaves.
We are learners too. Several of the features in Zeno exist because someone on the team was frustrated by the same problem you are: knowing a word perfectly well and still not being able to produce it in time.
Safety and moderation
A place where people feel safe to sound like beginners has to be actively protected, so Zeno has real rules and real tools. Every user can report or block anyone, hosts can mute and remove people from their own Spaces, and our team reviews every report. Zeno is for adults aged 18 and over. The details are in our Community Guidelines, which are worth reading before your first Space.
How Zeno pays for itself
Free practice still costs money to run — servers, voice infrastructure and AI usage are not free. Zeno is funded by advertising on some pages and by an optional PRO upgrade for people who want more AI usage. We do not put ads inside live calls, voice sessions or chats, because an advert in the middle of a conversation would break the one thing the product is for.
